Cotton has higher absorbency than polyester, and by sun-drying it, its absorbent properties can be maintained for a longer time.
Over time, daily use may cause it to flatten, but through a process called “re-fluffing,” it can be restored to a fluffy futon. In Japan, there is a tradition of re-fluffing, where the cotton is returned to its original state, heat-sterilized, reshaped, and made ready for extended use.
Moreover, cotton is a sustainable material that, once its life cycle is complete, naturally decomposes and returns to the earth.
We are committed to initiatives within Japan aimed at a sustainable future. For individual customers, we offer futon re-fluffing services to support the long-term use of cherished bedding. Additionally, in collaboration with local governments and municipalities, we are promoting a community-based, circular system for recycled down. Collected down is recycled and provided for funeral use, contributing to resource reuse and waste reduction.
